Citroen Xsara: The Maintenance

The engines Citroen Xsara is provided with demand high-quality oils. The oil replacement interval makes up 15 000 km for gasoline powered engines and 7 500 km for diesel ones. Gas distributing mechanism belt is better to be replaced in 60 thousand km together with the rollers. It is advised to replace crankshaft pulley together with the belt when it comes to HDi diesel engines. 8-valve gasoline powered engines need to have valves adjusted from time to time. 16-valve motors are provided with hydrocompensators and therefore they do not need such an adjustment.

Automobile front suspension is quite simple and reliable. Almost all the suspension components can be bought separately and that allows cutting down the maintenance costs. Xsara owners most often replace stabilizer pillars as they wear out in 20 - 30 thousand km. Silent blocks' and balls' operation life is about 80 - 100 thousand km. Rear suspension is also simple and durable. There is only one thing, the levers are fixed to the bar with the help of so-called needle roller bearings. They are to be checked at every check-up because if they wear down they start breaking their seats in the bar and the bar cannot be repaired, only replaced. Silent blocks need to be changed in 100 - 120 thousand km. It is better using original parts so as to maintain steerability.
