Citroen XM: Modifications

Citroen XM was produced in only two body types (hatchback and station wagon) unlike other business class models. The automobile was designed by Bertone studio. Citroen XM looked kind of shocking when it was just put on the market and by the end of its career the automobile appearance became a little out-of-date. The automobile saloon especially if talking about post-restyled models produced after 1994, will surprise the owner by good ergonomics and quality interior trim.

XM was provided with hydraulic suspension just like other Citroen models produced in the 90ies. Unique technology allows Citroen automobiles combining smooth running and good steerability. The opportunity to adjust road clearance can be of great use. After the restyling of 1994 XM is provided with a more perfect suspension Hydractive II that is more reliable and durable than the predecessor although boasting of the advantages the predecessor had.

Several types of gasoline powered and diesel engines are used as power plants.

There were several 2.0-liter motors: a 121-horsepower 8-valve one, a 132-horsepower 16-valve engine, and a turbo-charged one that put out 147 hp. 3.0-liter V6 engines meet quite rarely. Diesel engines were represented by a 2.1-liter air diesel and by a more up-to-date 129-horsepower 2.5-liter turbo-charged diesel engine.

Base model was provided with 5-speed manual gearbox while 4-speed automatic transmission was an option if paid extra.

Most Citroen XMs boast of a pretty nice kitting-up that includes conditioner, electronics, on-board computer, ABS, air bags, and so on.
