Citroen Xantia: Modifications

Citroen Xantia was produced in two body types, these are a 5-door hatchback and a station wagon. The automobile is quite spacious thanks to a quite extensive wheel base, even tall passengers can comfortably occupy the rear seats. Xantia boasts of quite a capacious trunk (480 liters) with an even floor while folding rear seats allow transporting huge things as the trunk volume increases up to 878 liters.

The automobile was provided with gasoline powered and diesel engines of 1.6 - 3.0-liter capacity. 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter gasoline powered engines as well as 1.9-liter and 2.1-liter diesel ones are the most wide-spread ones. These days on the market one can more often find automobiles provided with HDi series turbo-charged diesels.

Five-speed manual and four-speed automatic gearboxes are the ones available.

All Xantia automobiles were provided with hydraulic suspension. The best one is Activa version provided with 11 spheres and capable of preventing automobiles rolls at turning.

Production equipment of the automobiles produced before the restyling is quite poor: the cheapest version wasn't even provided with a tachometer. Base equipment improved greatly after 1998. All the automobiles starting from SX kitting-up were provided with ABS as well as with front and side air bags. There were climate control (it was an option for SX and a standard for Activa as well as for VSX), rain sensor, velour seats trim, wood inserts (VSX and Activa), and immobilizer introduced.
