Citroen Jumper: Owner Review

When I bought Jumper I also purchased Peugeot Boxer and as these models have a lot in common I will try to compare them. Generally speaking both Peugeot and Citroen have a nice saloon although Peugeot kitting-up is kind of more plain, its windows are not provided with electric window lifts, although the steering wheel is convenient, its height cannot be adjusted or maybe it was my bad and I simply didn't find the lever however I think there isn't any. Citroen's suspension is really soft, noise insulation is perfect, the mirrors are heated ones (they are dual zone electric ones by the way) while Peugeot is provided with ordinary mirrors as it is several years older than Jumper. Citroen boasts of central locking, which is very convenient you can take the load knowing it will be okay. There is also driver seat's armrest and that's a great thing when on the highway, put your arm on it and keep driving comfortably, by the way, I never get tired after work...

Visibility is just perfect, well it's almost a bus, the mirrors are large but the headlamps are quite dull and no matter how you adjust there is no use. They are kind of too low and the light itself isn't bright. I at first didn't like the wipers, washer mode is like the classical, but then I got used to that.

I like the motor, just like it is said in the manual, it is the best of all that these cars can be provided with. It's 128-horsepower 2.8-liter turbo-charged engine that boasts of great draft unlike Peugeot. Peugeot is provided with 108-horsepower 2.5-liter turbo-charged engine and it accelerates only when it is "forced" by the turbine. Gearbox is a convenient one, controls by joystick, its travel is kind of long but it's not a sports car and it's designed to transport loads but not to compete in street racing. However sometimes when I'm in the mood I accelerate the car so it develops the speed of 140 km/h and that's it no matter how I push the pedal. Surprisingly enough, it is written that the maximum torque is 4200 revolutions per minute so when the tachometer's hand reaches this number it stops and after that there is not a sound of tachometer and it seems there is none at all. Peugeot by the way doesn't feature a tachometer, may be they think there is no need of it when you have 2.5-liter motor? Fuel consumption makes up 9-10 liters and some 12 liters if you ride fast enough. The average fuel consumption is 10 liters.

The steerability is of a motor car, it's a pleasure driving on the highway, not a slack or anything of the kind. The suspension is a soft one, the brakes are really efficient, it stops dead and you are not afraid of driving in the city. It surely rolls at turns but one should not forget about this automobile's purpose.

I don't see any disadvantages, maybe it is because this is the first quality car I drive. It is a freighter but I still prefer it to some motor cars. I never get tired driving it and besides it is pretty manoeuvrable.

Repairs and maintenance. Well I surely bought not a new car but I replaced only the necessary parts and that was it. These were the hub of front axle bearing and outside constant-velocity universal ball joint. The spare parts were unitized with Fiat Dukato automobiles.
