Citroen BX: The History of the ModelCitroen BX was first introduced during 1982 motor show in Paris. The automobile extraordinary design and nice performance characteristics spurred up the customers' interest towards the novelty. There were 1.4 - 1.9- liter gasoline powered engines to choose that produced 62 - 105 hp. In 1983 the model range was extended thanks to diesel modifications. There was 65-horsepower 1.9-liter engine and its turbo-charged variant. In 1985 Citroen introduced a station wagon based on BX platform that was called Break. In summer of 1986 the automobile was restyled. The renewed BX was provided with a new instrumentation panel, power plant range was also renewed. In summer of 1987 BX GTI provided with first in Citroen history 16-valve engine was put on market. In 1989 all-wheel drive modifications provided with gasoline powered engines entered the market. All-wheel drive BX models provided with diesel engine were introduced a year later. The last Citroen BX was produced in 1994. The automobile had been in production for over 12 years. BX was replaced by a more up-to-date and successful model, which was Citroen Xantia. |
